We were planning to go on vacation this month. I’ve always wanted to go to the Grand Canyon; on my bucket list. But this year my feet have been bothering me, and now I am having surgery instead. I may need to take a break from blogging for a week or two, but then I plan to get back at it. So if you don’t hear from me, that’s why. At first I was really bummed. Then, thinking of how I could make the best of it, I signed up for two online art classes. Being a teacher, September always feels like a learning month, a beginning, ready for new things. Today I got out of the shower feeling like a blank canvas (with added texture) and am ready to experience painting and life even further outside the box…maybe after I feel better following foot surgery.
Here is a page from one of my early journals. I had bought a chrysalis at a pet store, looked up the process, and drew the metamorphosis I saw before me. I also took photos of the changes. What an amazing thing to witness, a miracle really, the transformation into such beauty. It inspired my logo and the first workshop I taught: “What if?”
