Art Journaling Deeper into Faith

As I go deeper, understanding tends to grows broader. When that "Aha" moment hits, like the word study in the last post, I want to express it through art in some way. Sometimes it's hard because the outcome doesn't express the idea very well, but I know that should not keep me from trying. This time I am trying to show, even in a small way, the seeking and finding that has been there all along in this passage of Scripture. For me it was like finding a lost treasure with new eyes to see.

After the word study published in the last post, I decided to take a look at the following Chapter of 2 Corinthians 4. The first verse resonated with me and seems to complete the thought of the end of chapter 3:17-18, since it starts with "Therefore..." The three verses together are:

"For the Lord is the Spirit, and

wherever the Spirit of the Lord is,

there is freedom.

So all of us with that veil removed

can see and reflect the glory of the Lord.

And the Lord - who is the Spirit -

makes us more and more like him

as we are changed into his glorious image.

Therefore, since God in his mercy

has given us this new way,

we never give up."

2 Corinthians 3:17-18, 4:1 NLT

My tendency is to feel inadequate and want to give up. 2 Corinthians 4:1 brought me back to the message of the 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 passage studied a few weeks ago, where the Lord is saying,

'"My grace is sufficient for you,

for my power is made perfect in weakness.'

Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly

about my weaknesses,

so that Christ's power may rest on me.

That is why, for Christ's sake,

I delight in weaknesses, in insults,

in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.

For when I am weak, then I am strong."

- 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

The same day I went deeper into 2 Corinthians 3:17-18, I read the Jesus Calling entry for January 23. The last paragraph of the text (including the timely suggested reading of 2 Corinthians 12:7-9) helped give me more insight of how contemplating the glory of God, can become a part of me so that His strength can shine through my weakness and vulnerability.

"As you live in close contact with Me,

the Light of My Presence

filters through you to bless others.

Your weakness and woundedness

are the openings through which

the Light of the knowledge of My Glory

shines forth.

My strength and power show themselves

 most effective in your weakness.
