Aging and Having Fun with My Color of the Year

Aging Gracefully & Artfully … or at least trying to. I knew it would happen one day, I just didn’t know when. Recently, someone who had met me in person after connected with me online said I didn’t look like my profile picture. Sigh. That photo was taken five years ago. There are things I love about aging. I’m learning a lot all the time: becoming more grace-giving, forgiving myself and others, holding things more loosely, and letting go easier, trusting God – His love for me and others. There is a new sense of freedom, comfort and courage in… Read More

Butterfly Journal Emerging

The butterfly and process of metamorphosis has long been a personal symbol of growing. It is a call upward through the dark quiet of the cocoon, an inner journey of trust to arise into who God made me to be. It seemed fitting that the butterfly would revisit as the theme of my summer workshop journal. I love that the Latin word for image, the root word for imagine, imagination, etc. is Imago, referring to the final stage or form, after it has undergone complete metamorphosis. A word full of hope of fulfillment… Many times I’ve wondered if I will… Read More

Wonderful Art Journaling Weekend Workshop!

It was one of those weekends I marvel at. Twelve people, plus myself, who mostly are strangers, spending 2 1/2 days together. The range of experience in the group was vast: a couple of people had never done anything like making an art journal before, and a couple others taught classes like art journaling and book binding. Most were experienced in between the two. Even with all that difference, the creativity and connections flowed smoothly, with freedom and laughter throughout. Here is a photo of our journals (and feet) at the end: We had a wonderful time creating together: And… Read More
