Sometimes the entries from Oswald Chambers’ book My Utmost for His Highest blow me away with a message that goes straight to my heart, and I must respond. Here is one of those, an excerpt from the June 13th entry that I included in the journal page above:

“Getting There
‘…come follow Me’ (Luke 18:22)

We have the idea that we can dedicate our gifts to God. However, you cannot dedicate what is not yours. There is actually only one thing you can dedicate to God, and that is the right to yourself (see Romans 12:1). If you will give God your right to yourself, He will make a holy experiment out of you-and His experiments always succeed. The one true mark of a saint of God is the inner creativity that flows from being totally surrendered to Jesus Christ. In the life of a saint there is this amazing Well, which is a continual Source of original life. The Spirit of God is a Well of water springing up perpetually fresh. A saint realizes that it is God who engineers his circumstances…. Never try to make your experience a principle for others as He is with you, but allow God to be as creative and original with others as He is with you
If you abandon everything to Jesus and come when He says, ‘Come,’ then He will continue to say ‘Come,’ through you. You will go out into the world reproducing the echo of Christ’s ‘Come.’ That is the result in every soul who has abandoned all and come to Jesus.
Have I come? Will I come now?”

  1. Love this…even though it was posted so long ago. My favorite from My Utmost For His Highest is the November 1 entry. It had a mighty impact in my life, reading it after my son had passed away that same year on August 18. I visited because of the beautiful journal, but as usual God had a deeper purpose for directing me here today! Thank you for sharing your talent and your heart!

    • Dear Cindy, Thank you for sharing from the depth of your heart. It blesses me that the journal and message is meaningful to you. May you be blessed with peace and hope of the bright future. Valerie

  2. Hi Valerie. Is this made from 3 sheets of paper like your other journals? I'm trying to count but everything flows together so it's hard to tell. I guess that means you achieved your objective of "flow". thanks for sharing this, and also the link to Abbey of the Arts.

  3. wow! i've spent quite a bit of time on your blog and also on your website…very inspiring, esp. the flowing in the Spirit part. thanks.
