Disneyland with my Moleskine Journal

I love Disneyland! The creativity, the fantasy, people having fun…. For the first time, Keith and I were the kids this time, going by ourselves, without kids or parents. What fun! We went down to Anaheim for a conference and decided to spend a couple of days at the happiest place on earth. I've been taking my moleskine journal almost everywhere I go these days, Disneyland no exception. The thing about that is, when in a place like Disneyland for only a few days, I wasn't going to spend much time doodling in my journal. We had places to go, adventures to experience. So I decided to keep a record of what we did during the day and then in the evenings, spend a little bit of time cutting, gluing and writing down what we did that day, and then my thoughts about it. I wasn't concerned about making these pages beautiful, but what would work well for recording our vacation. So now we can look back and remember what fun we had together.

We each had maps of the parks. I used one to keep track of rides we went on, writing 1, 2, 3 and so on for the first day. The second day, I used a,b,c…. Then I cut them into strips and glued them down with a glue stick in order in my journal. As you can see I wrote a bit about most of them, and then on the other side of the page, wrote my thoughts and feelings about the trip, including a photo from Space Mountain. On the pages following these, I wrote more impressions and ideas. One of my favorite places in Disneyland is the Blue Sky Gallery. That's where we get to see what goes into the making of the new creations in the park. I always leave the gallery inspired.  I left imagining more is possible.
