A-Z of Mystery Journal – I – Imagination

The Mystery of Imagination – I in the A-Z of Mystery Journal Imagine is one of my favorite words and finds it’s way into my journals, by definition and illustration. This time I focused on Imagination. Imagination is the ability to form pictures or ideas in the mind, new and exciting things not experienced before. I love that! Seeing imagination through the filter of my faith helps me appreciate how uniquely made humanity is with our ability to hope for things not yet present, discover the unknown, invent life changing machines etc. It makes me glad to be alive, and… Read More

A-Z of Mystery Journal – H – Harmony

The Mystery of Harmony – H in the A-Z of Mystery Journal It’s amazing how relevant the word “Harmony” is for me right now. Some relationships are especially challenging, and I need wisdom and discernment to know how to navigate disagreement, how to be kind and honest, how to love the other person and be true to myself. It takes courage. For me it also takes surrender and dependence on God. I can’t do it in my own strength. Every week seems to bring a challenge and need for courage. This really stretches my “flight” tendency. The verse that jumped… Read More

A-Z of Mystery Journal – G – Glory

The Mystery of Glory – G – in the A-Z of Mystery Journal The meaning of glory has always been illusive to me, a mystery, with a kind of “high & mighty” air to it.  When attributed to God, it sounds authentic to me. When applied to humans it seems unnatural, distracting, and self serving. What is it? Why use the word? Since the word shows up in my verse of the year , it seems like a good idea to explore it. “Living within you is the Christ who floods you with the expectations of glory. This mystery of… Read More

My New Simplified Bullet Journal

My New Simplified Bullet Journal Snow storm, cancelled classes, cleaning out and organizing studio spaces. For me it goes along with getting my everyday, calendar journal ready for the year. This simplified bullet journal gives me lots of freedom as I begin to live out my word of the year: FREE as in “be free.” By simplified I mean, not a lot of “to-do” lists or coding, unless I want to, but more of a loose design format to happily contain my thoughts, prayers, dreams, and activities of the year. Journal writing and research make up much of my everyday journal, but… Read More

My Hymn Journal – for Honor and Healing

I have sweet childhood memories of my mom playing the piano, and of her, her sisters, and my grandfather singing hymns in harmony while my mom played the piano. Sometimes my grandfather would play cords on the organ or bring out his harmonica to play. I have appreciated those times to such a degree that they have been a helpful in my healing of family brokenness. In honor of my mother and the legacy of her family, I began a hymn journal that I add to every now and then. For the hymns I’ve used so far, I look for… Read More

All of “An A to Z of Me” Moleskine Journal Pages

A to Z of Me… I received a question about pens bleeding through the moleskine pages. I found that many pens, especially colored, bleed through. There are likely many that don’t, but the pens I’m using on these pages that have very little bleed through are Pitt Faber Castell “S” superfine size tip and Prismacolor colored pencils. Here are my pages A to Z from the A to Z of Me Journal Challenge
