It's all in my Mind... Bible Art Journaling

Sometimes the battle is in my mind. Sometimes it's making the best of a situation that hasn't gone how I expected. All the time it is trusting God.I've gotten caught up in the cares of my little world and the things that have broken in the past few weeks, and then I watch the news. Yikes! I need a thinking adjustment.

Rejoice

in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.

Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.

Do not worry about anything,

but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving

let your requests be made known to God.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,

will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:4-7 NRSV

Philippians 4 is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. I looked up the meanings of the words at https://www.blueletterbible.org/search.cfm and refocused on the positive. You can see I listed some of the words and the synonyms in the margin below.

Once again, art reflects life. On this page I did the artwork on sandwich, deli paper first. I used colored markers I hadn't used before. The deli paper/sandwich wrap assured that they didn't bleed through. When I was gluing the words on the side margin onto the page, the ink smeared. I quickly lifted it off the Bible page, disappointed. I figured it was ruined anyway, so I quickly went and spritzed it with spray water bottle. It bled and I thought it looked quite good, almost planned. Ha! So I glued it on the page again while it was just damp. It wrinkled a little bit, but turned out pretty good under the circumstances. Making the best of it....

Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable,

whatever is just, whatever is pure,

whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable,

if there is any excellence and

if there is anything worthy of praise,

think about these things.

Philippians 4:8 NRSV

It is good for me to be reminded:

13

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

19

And my God will fully satisfy every need of yours

according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

20

To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Philippians 4:13, 19-20 NRSV
