Yearning and saying Yes - Y in A-Z Word Challenge

Beginning this A-Z Word Challenge in January, I knew the letter 'Y' would have two words, Yearn and Yes. For me they are linked. What I yearn for I tend to say 'yes' to. That is why it is so important to nurture my heart, be aware of what or who I give my heart to, what I focus on, and even what I see and hear.To yearn means to have a strong desire; to long for with one's whole heart; to feel compassion or tenderness.

If I say ‘yes’ to something it means I am committing to take positive action. I am also aware that to say ‘yes’ to something or someone may mean I am saying ‘no’ to something and/or someone else.

Often, when I feel obligated or 'should on myself' I regret the 'yes' and it usually doesn't work out that well for me or the other person. There is a time I did that this year and regret it. One habit I am working on is taking the time to pause and pray, asking God, "What are Your giving me grace for?" He has always been faithful to answer.

Believing in God's goodness and good intention towards me helps me move forward with positive action.

“For all of God’s promises
find their yes of fulfillment in him.
And as his ‘yes’ and our amen’ ascend to God
we bring him glory.”

- 2 Corinthians 1:20 TPT

God saying ‘yes’ to us is our assurance that we have His blessing, presence, and power as we say ‘yes’ to His plan for us. I don’t have to know the outcome, or do it by myself, and yet, my part is important.

“For it is not your strength but
it is God who is effectively at work in you
both to will and to work that is,
strengthening, energizing and creating in you
the longing and the ability to
fulfill your purpose for His good pleasure.”

~ Philippians 2:13 AMP

There is an interesting and mysterious passage in Scripture about yearning found in the amazing 8th chapter of Romans. It makes me feel a bit inside like I'm standing on tiptoe to see what's next for the coming year.

“The entire universe is standing on tiptoe,
yearning to see the unveiling [revealing]
of God's glorious sons and daughters!...
And its not just creation,
we who have already experienced the first fruits of the Spirit
also inwardly groan as we passionately long to
experience our full status as God's sons and daughters -
including our physical bodies being transformed."

~ Romans 8:19, 23 TPT

"God has made everything beautiful in its time.
He has also planted eternity -
a sense of divine purpose - in the human heart -
a mysterious longing where nothing
under the sun can satisfy except God -
yet man cannot comprehend or grasp
what God has done (His overall plan)
from the beginning to the end."

~ Ecclesiastes 3;11 AMP

Questions to Consider

I'm asking myself these questions:

  • What am I yearning for? Is it the desire God has planted in my heart?

  • What do I 'hear' and 'see' as I look back on 2019 and look forward to 2020? This is where going through my 2019 journal is really helpful.

  • What do I need to say 'no' to in order to say 'yes' to my purpose and destiny?

Looking Forward

One last letter to complete in the 2019 Word of the Year Challenge. As we come to a close for the year and this challenge I will be posting more about choosing and living a word of the year, along with what's new for 2020.

Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate your visit and would love to hear from you in the comments below.

Blessings,
Valerie
