Uplifting Colors of the Year!

This year my focus colors were the theme that came early on. Having a starting color palette of about three colors helps jumpstart my journal and my creative year. I’ve found the palette finds its way into my art and even my wardrobe. This year, I did something different in using the bright, spring colors for my January calendar. I’ve never chose unseasonal colors like that for the winter month of January. But this year I have a strong sense of new beginning, of growth, of stepping out in faith. So, I took a baby step with those colors in my journal.

A friend of mine works in the fashion industry and introduced me to the Pantone colors of the year a number of years age. I don’t pay that much attention to the Pantone colors of the year, but this year I am excited and encouraged. The Pantone color of the year, Greenery 15-0343, is one of my colors, green toward yellow (like the color of a Granny Smith apple), symbolizing new beginnings, growth, nature, harmony and fulfillment of destiny. YES!

Another of my colors is turquoise/aqua. It could be said that this is one of my colors every year. It feels like “my” color. I’ve noticed Phthalo Turquoise is in nearly all of my art journals and at least a third of my clothing. It symbolizes calm, healing, and the life-giving flow of the Holy Spirit.

The third color for me this year is orange leaning toward red. It symbolizes courage, passion, and praise. It is the color I chose because as I step into this new year, I need courage to press forward, not looking back. Orange-red is a color that speaks of innovation. When I think of my husband, this color is like him, and he often wears it. It’s funny how color reflects personality and strengths in people

.After looking up the word “free” on Bible Gateway, I read through the verses and made a list in my journal of Scripture passages to explore over this year. The book of the year, Song of Songs, speaks to the key to freedom, my intimacy with Christ. A Psalm and other passages underlined with be a focus for me with time spent with God, and Bible journaling.

It looks like it is going to be a year full of hope and growth…
