Simple stencil takes flight

Tomorrow I am a guest workshop facilitator at a local high school art festival. It was a challenge to figure out what we could do in less than an hour and a half. I decided we'll make stencils and silhouettes, paint backgrounds, and add text and/or collage items if desired.  The sturdy bag you see here came with another image that wasn't "me" so I thought I would practice what we're doing tomorrow by painting gesso over the image and pocket, painting the background, applying a transfer of music, stenciling the birds and writing the text for a whole new look. I embellished the birdhouse that used to be used to draw still life. It will now find a home in our back yard. These simple techniques and others will also be covered in the upcoming Bird, Egg, Nest 6-week workshop series coming up beginning April 21st. Visit my website for details: www.valeriesjodin.com
