Doodling through Post Op
It's been a week in the twilight zone for me. I can't seem to keep track of what day it is. Last Tuesday I had foot surgery. Yesterday Keith took me to the doctor for the post-op and I am thankful it is healing well. Good friends brought meals and shared good company in the evenings. I am reminded of how blessed I am.
With my foot elevated and spending many hours on the couch, I began a new journal I had prepared the week previous, following Teesha Moore's Amazing 16-page journal. The journal is just black and white with only doodling in it. No agenda, no pressure, just something I can do while laying on the couch. It's not finished yet. I have one more week of foot elevating, so I imagine it will evolve further. Here are some photos of the journal I took with my phone:
The great thing about doodling and having a journal to do it in, is that it helped with the nausea that followed the day after surgery. I felt so sick to my stomach from the anesthesia I couldn't listen to music with words. So I had instrumental music playing and doodled my way through the day. On top of that it's been fun doodling and I'm learning more by experimenting with pens, gessos, mediums, paint etc., to see what works, but mostly I'm just wandering with a pen and having fun. I like writing down what I've learned, or tips to give in a journal like this because the illustrations and information are in the same place. Then I don't have to look for it on my computer or in a sketchbook etc.
