Butterfly Journal Emerging

The butterfly and process of metamorphosis has long been a personal symbol of growing. It is a call upward through the dark quiet of the cocoon, an inner journey of trust to arise into who God made me to be. It seemed fitting that the butterfly would revisit as the theme of my summer workshop journal.

I love that the Latin word for image, the root word for imagine, imagination, etc. is Imago, referring to the final stage or form, after it has undergone complete metamorphosis. A word full of hope of fulfillment...

Many times I've wondered if I will always be emerging, with the struggle to get out of the cocoon and onto the next phase or level of growth. After the dark season since last fall, I am beginning to feel the reality of my word of the year: FREE!

"Arise, shine, for your light has come
and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you."
