Part 1
Tomorrow is the Great American Eclipse. Living fairly close to the path of totality in Oregon, we have our glasses ready and the excitement is mounting. It is estimated 1 million people are traveling and gathering in the path of totality in Oregon alone. It seems like a big deal. Heavenly speaking, I have been looking up verses in the Bible about God speaking through the heavens. I believe God still speaks through heavenly signs today.
On the Bible page above I had previously painted a sky on the background of the right side when I did the journal page on the left. Below I’ve darkened the right side with Paynes Gray so the stars and eclipse will show up.
One of the passages, Psalm 19, I had already done a background previously, with a first layer of Golden Satin Acrylic Glazing Liquid and fluid acrylic paints. I'm really excited about showing you how I Bible journal.The background is a little light to show stars and planets, so I darkened it using satin acrylic glazing liquid and Paynes Gray fluid acrylic paint applied with a cosmetic sponge. Check out how I paint this page in the video further down. After reading some facts about this eclipse I decided to put a sky map of the August 21 2017 solar eclipse on the Bible page. It is the first time I have put current events in my Bible, but it seems fitting now. It was also a learning experience for me. I researched online about what happens during a solar eclipse, what planets are aligned within the nearby constellations of the eclipse, and what “coincidences” have happened relating to the event (see links at bottom of this post). I also referred to some books I have about the night sky. My sense of wonder is heightened, which makes me praise God for His wondrous works, and causes me to want to learn more and express it visually.As you can see, I haven’t done the text yet because I am waiting until after the Eclipse tomorrow. Stay tuned for the finished page and a few photos of the eclipse.
