J-Journey Living Your Word of the Year
Life is a Journey
If you are here now, you are on this life journey, and so am I. My journey is taking me back, like revisiting these journals with journey themed pages and bringing to mind my faith journey. I am grateful for the process, even though at times it was hard to see on the path...
What is your journey this month?
What is important for you to take on this journey?
What is important to leave behind?
The journey will look different for each of us at different times . As you read this I am on an actual traveling journey that includes three types of journeys in one:
Spiritual journey to Wales and London
Relational journey with my husband for our 40th anniversary trip
Creative journey to Greece for an Art Workshop and Greek Island tour with Mary Beth Shaw, Queen of StencilGirl Products.
This particular adventure is a trip of a lifetime, a joyful journey! This kind of traveling always changes me, broadens my experience and perspective… I enjoy traveling, but feel a bit apprehensive too.
The first portion of the trip to Wales is taking me back to my faith journey where I found myself resonating with Celtic Christianity. The exploration during that time of faith crisis changed my life and I felt as if I had come home. This revisiting is sparking new creativity and enthusiasm for the connections of faith and art.
The simple image above is taken from one of my first journals, a 3x5" spiral notecard journal made years ago. I wrote prayers and Scripture in it and took it everywhere with me, reading it as I waited, before I went to bed etc. until it transformed my mind and brought healing to my heart.
I am excited to travel with my husband and best friend on this trip. We love to go places together and this marks our 40th year of marriage. How blessed and grateful I am!
The last leg of our journey takes us to the Greek islands. I'm so excited to take an in-person workshop with Mary Beth Shaw, owner of StencilGirl® Products. May marks the second anniversary of me designing stencils for StencilGirl. They have been an absolute joy to work with!
Psalm 25:4-5 TPT
Lord, direct me throughout my journey
so I can experience your plans for my life.
Reveal the life-paths that are pleasing to you.
Escort me along the way; take me by the hand and teach me.
For you are the God of my increasing salvation;
I have wrapped my heart into yours![a]
Psalm 25:5 The Hebrew word most commonly translated as “wait” (wait upon the Lord) is qavah, which also means “to tie together by twisting” or “to entwine” or “to wrap tightly.” This is a beautiful concept of waiting upon God, not as something passive, but entwining our hearts with him and his purposes.
Living Your Word of the Year Challenge for J - Journey
Write the prayer of Psalm 25:4-5, or another passage of Scripture, in your own words with your own personal journey in mind.
Questions:
What is God directing me into right now, in this season?
How can I wait, wrap in God’s heart and desire and His love for me?
How can the journey I’m on be influenced by my word of the year?
No matter where you are in your journey,
may you be blessed with joy in the present and hope for the future!
Love,
Valerie
