Doing that one little thing…
Here is the second installment of “Art in Real Life’ and making the everyday special, therefore artful, according to the definition of ‘Art is to make special.’
These days focusing and accomplishing has been be a challenge for me. Finding inspiration and accomplishing tasks with joy can be even more challenging, but when I am more joyful, I accomplish more, in quality and quantity. To get inspiration and start moving in the direction of joyful accomplishment, I ask my self this question:
What is that one little action that would bring delight
or a sense of accomplishment?
The key is using the K.i.s.s method:
Keep it simple Sweetheart
It could be anything that stirs up joy or satisfaction like …
~ putting something beautiful in the center of the kitchen table
~ cleaning out a sock drawer
~ lighting a candle and watching it flicker and softly glow
~ listening to a favorite song or album - singing and moving your body to the music
~ writing a haiku ( 3 lines with syllable pattern of 5-7-5)
~ reading an uplifting Scripture, quote, or poem and writing it down
~ going for a walk like it’s a treasure hunt for beauty
… the possibilities are endless.
What simple action would bring YOU joy or a sense of accomplishment?
One thing I did to spark inspiration and accomplish something was go through a box of book collage items like old books and notebooks I collected over the years. One item seemed highlighted to me and I thought, It’s time to get rid of it or repurpose it. Midstream I thought you might like to see the repurposed version of the home records file. I needed it to be a short and simple project, so I glued a practice poppy painting I had hanging around on the cover and stenciled the inside envelopes with one little stencil, layering it. It makes me happy to look at it, and it’s ready to hold my small scavenged collage pieces.
Here’s a short video tutorial about it:
After doing this I was inspired to organize the hanging clothes in my closet. Sometimes we just need one little action to inspire us to do more.
