Here's the thing:
There is no end to the creative possibilities!
I am currently experiencing that the more I create, the more there is to create - even when I think I’ve reached the end of ideas.
There is more experimenting in the new entries of my 100 day project - Days 71-78. In these eight entries I played around with integrating color palette swatches into the design of the square. I’m still deciding if I like the look, but what I know I like already is that the swatches give me a record of what colors I used and show an example of what the colors can do when they play together.
Another change I’ve begun is using pencil for shading more than I have previously, in addition to the black and white permanent pens.
Each of the four entries below began with drawing the rectangles and painting the color swatches in the small rectangles. Then I painted a wet on wet wash in the larger image rectangles. I did not have a preconceived idea for what would go in each image shape. As I spent time with each watercolored square, I began to see a glimmer of images emerge, which is how the imagery began.
This is an experimental project, so I continued with the color swatches, but this time I made the swatches smaller, as squares, and not touching the image portion. As above, I placed the color swatches on different sides of the square entries. I’m enjoying the shading with the pencil in addition to the black pen, and will likely continue that practice more in my artwork. I bought a new extra fine mechanical pencil !*
*Pen update! I really like how the pen worked, but then it got jammed and the small lead width doesn’t allow it to be cleaned out and a clean out wire was not included. It quit the day after I finished the 100 day project. It was still inside the window of warranty and I contacted the Pentel company and was promptly sent a replacement.
